Woodham Walter Primary School recognises the importance of good nutrition for pupils’ emotional, physical health and well-being and the effects this can have on an individual child’s ability to maximise their educational attainment.
We also recognise that eating should be an inherently social experience and encourage our children to interact and enjoy this period of their day as much as possible. Good manners and clearing away are also encouraged.
Our menus and lunchtime routines are regularly reviewed on the back of feedback from parents and contributions from children on the School Council to ensure that Woodham Walter's lunch experience delivers on health, nutrition, fulfilment and fun.
Lunches at Woodham Walter CofE Primary Academy are £2.50 per day (£12.50 per week) and should be pre-ordered and paid for in advance online via Arbor.
In the event that your child is absent from school your order will be cancelled by the school office and you will not be charged for the meal.
If you have not pre-booked a school meal for your child, you will be required to provide them with a packed lunch.
Parents and pupils are consulted to encourage the use of healthy packed lunches. The school provides guidance for parents about packed lunches.
(If your child has packed lunches, please ensure that all products included are nut free. Please note that items such as chocolate spread and Pesto contain nuts and should not be included in a packed lunch.)
Universal Free School Meals (UIFSM), all pupils in EYFS and KS1 are entitled to a free school lunch daily. Those children who are entitled to a Free School Meal must still prebook their menu choice in advance in their online Arbor account for each day.
Automatic entitlement to a Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) finishes at the end of Year 2 and only children from low income families are eligible to Free School Meals (FSM) from Year 3 onwards.
Children may be eligible for free school meals if their parents receive the following benefits:

Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guaranteed element of Pension Credit

Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Universal Credit – household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
